Kids

First Lavaca's vision is to Know Jesus and Make Him Known. This vision coincides with the vision in the Children's Ministry:

We desire for kids to fall in love with Jesus and for parents to be equipped/trained to be the spiritual leaders in the home.

Whether it's a funny skit, energetic game, or intentional small group; we seek to point kids to Jesus so that they may really understand what it means to know Him.

We would love for your children to join us on Sunday mornings at 9:30am for Sunday School and 10:30am for our Kids Church service. We are located in the multi-purpose center (Building M). Here your children will experience an interactive and engaging worship service that is meant to draw them closer to Jesus and show how exciting it is to worship Him!

During Kids Church we separate our K-3rd and 4th-6th into two separate services. We believe that older kids need to learn and worship the Lord in an environment that they can identify with, and our younger children need that opportunity as well.  All of our children are learning the same Biblical lesson and experiencing the same worship service, but at a level that is appropriate and relative for their age.

Wednesday nights we have our IGNITE service from 6:15-7:15pm from September to May.

IGNITE is designed to show kids that knowing and following Jesus is exciting and fun. We hope to "ignite" a fire for the Lord in the hearts and minds of children through funny skits, life applicable messages from God's word, energizing games, and intentional small groups led by trained volunteers with a heart for kids.

Our WOW Summer program is our summer Wednesday night worship from 6-7:00.

Our focus, however, is not JUST with kids, but with parents/caregivers as well. After every IGNITE and Kids Church service, there will be a "Make it Count" sheet for parents/caregivers that focuses on the message they learned that day. It is designed from:

Deuteronomy 6:4-7 “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.

From this we see that the spiritual guidance and teaching from parents/caregivers comes not by "adding" something more to the plate, but throughout the ebb and flow of life. These "Make it Count" sheets help provide parents/caregivers a guideline for teaching the spiritual truths of God's Word that coincide with the command of Deuteronomy 6:4-7.

Our prayer is that both kids and parents/caregivers are transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ and seek to KNOW JESUS AND MAKE HIM KNOWN!
